Many of us wait until the last minute to pack for a camping trip which often results in forgotten items. You never know what will happen in the great outdoors so it’s important to come prepared for anything and everything. While it’s impossible to remember everything all the time, there are a few must have items that shouldn’t be left behind. Below are the top items not to forget on your trip the next time you find yourself heading out on an adventure.

First Aid Kit

Regardless of how careful you are, accidents happen and you might as well come prepared. Inside it’s ideal to have Band‐Aids, gauze, scissors, blister treatment, insect medication, burn ointment, aspirin, safety pins, and antiseptic wipes.

Extra Batteries

You are most likely bringing along a flashlight or lantern, and the last thing you want is to be trampling around in the woods in the dark, especially if you have to go to the bathroom.

Matches

While starting a fire without matches is certainly impressive, they make it a whole lot easier to get the campfire going which is essential if you are planning on eating or boiling water.

Rope

Good old rope, handy for so many things, especially if you are good with knots. You can create a shelter, make clothes lines and rope swings, climb things, save people, the options are endless.

Pocket Knife/Multi‐purpose Knife

Small and easy to carry, pocket knives have a variety of useful tools that can be used around camp or out on a hike.

Ice

You are not likely to forget the cooler filled with food and beer, but did you remember to put ice in it? Warm food spoils and nobody wants to drink warm beverages.

Cooking Utensils

It’s not a big deal to eat with your hands but it’s nice to at least have plates, pots, and cups. Knives are also useful as well as pot holders, unless you want to use that first aid kit you remembered.

Toilet Paper

While it’s not vital, it’s nice to have.

Keep in mind these top items not to forget on your trip when you are packing for upcoming wilderness adventures. Not sure where to go next? Take a few minutes and explore new campsites.
