Michigan

Missouri

North Dakota
The state has beautiful forests and lakes, but where North Dakota shines is in its prairies — there are endless wide open stretches of grasslands, hills, and plateaus with an open view of everything. You’ll be able to see for miles pretty much anywhere you go, making this a great destination for nonstop breathtaking views!
Indiana
If you love waterfalls, candlelight walks, and yurts, Indiana has a bit of everything you could want. It’s a great destination for the whole family and has no shortage of fun activities like gem mining, outdoor sports, and arts and crafts for spending some time completely unplugged!
South Dakota
Rocky mountains, open prairies, and bison abound in the plains of South Dakota. When in doubt, the Black Hills contain everything you could possibly need: try Custer State park for tranquil lake views, or trek out to Mount Rushmore to take in a piece of American history; you can even drive right through a massive rock via the Iron Mountain Road Tunnel!
Ohio
Ohio is a hiker’s paradise, especially if you love immersing yourself in the wilderness! Its forests contain a wide variety of foliage, waterfalls, rocky outcroppings, and much more to explore, and everywhere you go, you can find something a little different. Check out Mohican State Park and Hocking Hills for a taste of the state’s camping!
Minnesota
The North Shore of Lake Superior has some incredible views along the US/Canada border, with endless rocky shores and pine forests to explore. Minnesota is also a great state to see waterfalls, and Gooseberry Falls State Park is a prime example, or you can find a double waterfall in Minneopa State Park!
Kansas
For an uninterrupted view of the stars, Konza Prairie is a must-visit place to set up shop. You can find plenty of opportunities for hiking and fishing, but the local wildlife is where Kansas really shines as a camping spot, with everything from beavers to wild chickens to prairie dogs and plenty more adorable finds!
Illinois
Illinois contains no shortage of outdoor activities from seeing wild bison traverse the prairies, eagle spotting, boating, and so much more. If you have a craving for deep-dish pizza but don't want to sacrifice a single moment outdoors, you can even enjoy kayaking down the Chicago River for a change of pace!
Iowa
If you’re considering camping in Iowa, don’t miss trekking through the Maquoketa Caves and swimming in the pristine Prairie Rose Lake. Iowa has plenty of modern camping accommodations (including electricity and showers) and makes for a great spot if you don’t want to rough it this time.
