The rugged New River Gorge National River in West Virginia travels through deep canyons and picturesque mountains. This park was established in 1978 and encompasses 53 acres of the New River and 70,000 beautiful acres of ancient forests, wetlands, diverse fauna, and rare wildlife.
Camping Along the New River Gorge National River

Berry’s Campground in Hinton, WV, is nestled within the New River Gorge National River Park. Campers can choose from 20 stunning RV and tent sites along the banks of the river and enjoy amenities like hot showers, clean restrooms, and wireless internet.

On land you have opportunities for rock climbing, hiking, biking, and scenic drives as well as the option to explore some really interesting historical places. Nearby you will find two ghost towns, Thurmond and Nuttallburg, and the tiny town of Prince which still has an operating railroad depot. Less than an hour from the campground you will find Babcock State Park, home to the much photographed grist mill. Or, if you’re feeling brave, head to the iconic New River Gorge Bridge and walk along the catwalk 876 feet above the river.
